The Community Outreach Program Worker coordinates and delivers direct services including information, referrals and advocacy, to low income residents and supports projects for community improvement.
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: On-Site; 1104 Route 9; Champlain NY
Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.50
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 10:00am to 2:30pm
Tuesday: 10:00am to 3:30pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conducts outreach designed to inform all service area residents of the services and resources available.
- Promotes projects, identified by the Community Outreach Program Director,
- Submits all reports as requested by the Community Outreach Program Director on a timely basis. Enters and maintains all client tracking information in CAPTAIN (client tracking system).
- Assists eligible consumers with applications for; Christmas Bureau, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Emergency Fuel, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Women Infants and Children Food Program ( WIC), Continuing Education, Weatherization, Empower and other designated programs to help determine eligibility.
- Provides consumers with information about available services and makes appropriate referrals as needed.
- Attends all required trainings and program meetings.
- Delivers food or household items to consumers that are unable to gain access to the food pantry due to health, transportation, or other limitations.
- Distributes weekly produce, breads, and extra items to consumers in your community. Provide coverage at other JCEO locations.
- Picks up and distributes any local store donations located near the outreach center. Schedules and assigns drivers to all Rural Transportation consumers in outreach area. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Follows all health and safety regulations.
- Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
