Duties

  • Serve as a Communications Intelligence (COMINT) Specialist focusing on interagency collection requirements to support regional and in-country counter-narcoterrorism operations.
  • Develop and coordinate COMINT activity in support of the JIATFS mission and national counter-narcotics related objectives.
  • Provide intelligence support to the intelligence community, intelligence watch, and analytical cells both orally and in writing.
  • Remain up-to-date on current knowledge of criminal geography, operator characteristics and target communications procedures.
  • Maintain liaison with personnel assigned to other intelligence organizations and agencies.
  • Maintain a basic knowledge of radio wave propagation and radio frequency utilization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language is required.
  • Must perform Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 25% or less of the time in CONUS and OCONUS in order to participate in interagency and IC conferences and meetings.
  • This position is designated Tier 5, Special Sensitive, High Risk and the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance Level with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment.
  • Shift work is required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. In the event of an emergency (e.g., inclement weather, disaster coverage, etc.), may be required to work report for duty outside of scheduled shift.

  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug­ Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85. See Additional Information section below.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of progressively responsible specialized experience to the next lower grade (GS/GG-12) which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as collecting, producing, or disseminating oral and/or written intelligence to support counter-narcoterrorism operations; providing oral and/or written predictive analysis to support communications intelligence; and developing or coordinating communications intelligence activity in support of a counter-narcoterrorism mission.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
