Duties

  • Directs the development of the overall exercise schedule, oversees coordination and scheduling conferences, coordinates the execution of site surveys, range scheduling, and participation of special operations and conventional aviation assets.
  • Coordinates all aspects of aviation, support, training requirements, and after-action reviews for 1st JSOAC coordinated exercises.
  • Serves as the Assistant Exercise Program Manager for the 1st Joint Special Operations Air Component.
  • Supervises the preparation of messages and reports relating to the general conduct of planning conferences, site surveys, and meetings.
  • Provides oversight of aviation planning, assignment of exercise planners and Aviation Coordination Specialists, and execution of the 1st JSOAC exercise program.
  • Manages the Air Asset Allocation Conference (AAAC) program.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI access for the duration of employment.
  • This is a testing designated position. Personnel are required to sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
  • May require TDY travel over more than 30 days to CONUS and OCONUS locations up to 30% of the time. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships and vehicles.
  • This position is deployable and may require extended TDY to OCONUS locations. This position requires a pre-employment physical and thereafter prior to OCONUS travel over 30 days.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical, must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Employee must reside within the local area (50 miles) and able to report to work within an hour notice.
  • May require uncommon tour of duty hours, working either fixed or rotating shift which may include evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in planning and conducting joint field training exercises and operations; developing and preparing a wide range of correspondence such as policies, procedures and instruction in support of the joint exercise program; and communicating clearly and effectively with senior leaders and high-ranking officials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone, no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
