Duties

  • Integrate and synchronize full spectrum cyberspace operations capability into United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) plans and operations.
  • Ensure requirements are satisfactorily fulfilled in support of the commands' operations and cyber efforts.
  • Create innovative approaches regarding the development of target information packages.
  • Responsible for providing situational awareness and understanding of the threats impacting DoD network systems.
  • Monitor special access programs, compartmented projects, operations, and exercises.
  • Provide actionable operational and threat information to the command through the development and management of Indications and Warnings in order to rapidly mitigate the threat.
  • Conduct operational analysis of the threat by country group in order to rapidly respond to their activities in crisis or support to contingency operations.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • TDY will be required 25% or less of the time.
  • Employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
  • Under crisis operations, incumbent may be subject to short notice expanded hours and possible recall situations and irregular work hours, including weekends and holidays. Overtime/rotating shift work may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Provide situational awareness regarding the threats impacting network systems to ensure safety protocols are executed; 2. Conduct operational analysis of threats to rapidly respond in crisis/support of contingency operations; and 3. Ensure sufficient manpower and technical resources are available to respond to requirements in a timely and efficient manner.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).
