IT Support Lead
The Opportunity
T. Baker Smith is seeking an IT Support Lead to help strengthen support for our engineering, surveying, and environmental teams. Reporting to the IT Support Manager, you’ll combine hands-on troubleshooting with daily service coordination and technical coaching.
Key Responsibilities

Keep the support queue moving by coordinating priorities, workload, and coverage.

Take the lead on difficult workstation and complex application problems of all types, including CAD-related installation failures, software conflicts, deployment issues, configuration and integration problems, performance and compatibility issues, licensing and access errors, and break/fix incidents that interrupt project work.

Help teammates develop their troubleshooting skills and confidence.

Turn recurring problems into documented fixes and practical improvements.

Coordinate with internal technology team and vendors while maintaining clear communication with associates.
Qualifications and Approach
Candidates should bring substantial hands-on IT support experience and sound judgment about urgency, business impact, and when to involve additional expertise. The role requires the ability to explain technical problems clearly, coach teammates through diagnosis, and maintain accountability through resolution.
Experience supporting multiple offices or CAD-intensive environments is valuable. This is a hands-on technical leadership position.
A security-minded approach to everyday IT work is expected, including protecting firm and client information, recognizing and reporting suspicious activity, and helping associates work securely.
Openness to incorporating AI into everyday IT work is also expected, along with a willingness to learn, experiment with approved tools, and evaluate results critically while protecting firm and client information.
Technical Growth
This role offers opportunities to deepen technical expertise while guiding improvements in how the support team resolves complex issues. Collaboration with the infrastructure team may include systems administration, PowerShell automation, and technical projects that address recurring problems and strengthen service reliability. Technical growth also supports the Lead’s ability to coach teammates, improve troubleshooting practices, and turn successful solutions into repeatable processes.
