With Joie's continued growth, and expansion into the US Market, we're seeking a Quality Compliance Engineer to join our Compliance team in our Morgantown, PA offices, located just a mile off PA Turnpike exit 298.


The Quality Compliance Engineer applies a solid knowledge of Joie products and product documentation, and a proficient understanding of ASTM, CPSC, and NHTSA standards, to assist and support all compliance efforts related to product safety. Ensuring Joie meets our customer expectations, brand positioning, and regulatory requirements through the establishment and maintenance of product quality and certifications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Focus

  • Responsible for: Documentation quality review/approval or audits, documentation maintenance and archival, and Quality inspections of products, and leading internal assessments.
  • Investigates and performs Root Cause Analysis on adverse and safety-related issues.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for the Technical Writer in review and development of instruction manuals, revisions to artwork, and competitor product compatibility, when necessary, as new products are developed.
  • Reviews and approves instruction manuals, warning labels and other product safety documentation.
  • Performs product testing and documents detailed results and findings.
  • Works with design teams, to focus on brand excellence in usability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains product certifications and correct non-compliance findings of regulatory and approval agency inspections.
  • Develops quality test plans and test matrices for strollers and CRS and ensure execution to set standards through on-site collaboration with test centers and manufacturers.


Customer Focus

  • Oversees review of all customers’ returns and help troubleshoot potential issues.
  • Works with consumer services and customer returns to better understand key consumer issues and develops countermeasures.
  • Serve as a quality liaison for internal and external customers.


Regulatory & Compliance Management

Develop and maintain expertise in applicable regulations, including but not limited to:

  • Expertise in evolving industry and regulatory standards, trends, quality management, software, and applicable tools.
  • Providing ongoing reinforcement of compliance and quality culture.
  • Driving quality system on product enhancement projects associated with regulatory changes.
  • Reviewing and draft proposals to implement changes to the quality system procedures & forms as needed to maintain compliance and improve effectiveness and efficiency as well as the impact of proposed changes to our products.
  • Conducting internal audits to assess compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g. ASTM, CPSC, and NHTSA)
  • Developing and maintain product qualification plans.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant quality/engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting internal quality or compliance audits.
  • Managing product certifications and responding to regulatory or third-party audit findings.
  • Developing or executing product test plans and test matrices.
  • Working In hard goods, or consumer products engineering.
  • With juvenile product standards (ASTM, CPSC, and NHTSA) a plus.


Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., CAPA, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Proficient understanding of the product development process and common materials used in the manufacturing of juvenile products.
  • Strong command of quality systems, data analysis, documentation practices, and processes.
  • Manufacturing: injection molding and plastics.


Education

  • BS degree in engineering required. Mechanical Engineering preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with “hands-on” knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, deductive, and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards and compliance requirements to product design and documentation.
  • Strong documentation review and technical writing review skills related to product safety and compliance materials.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including report writing & presentation skills, communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and varied abilities (e.g. technical and non-technical staff).
  • Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment remaining poised under pressure or opposition.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and prioritizing workloads and deadlines, as well as managing and following through on multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrates the organization’s core competencies and strong customer service skills. Flexible and willing to pitch in as needed.
  • Seeks continuous improvement in all tasks and processes.
  • Ability to effectively interact within all levels of the organization.


Technology

Solid Proficiency with:

  • SolidWorks,
  • Adobe Acrobat,
  • MS Office; advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Experience with:

  • Project management software, Wrike preferred
  • Corporate expense management software, BILL Spend & Expense preferred
  • Payroll systems, Paycom preferred
  • Corporate travel systems, Navan preferred
  • Contract management software; Cobblestone preferred.
  • Ability to quickly acquire proficiency with new skills and technologies.


Other

  • Ability to lift a minimum weight of fifty (50) lbs.

As business needs warrant:

  • Ability to work extended hours may on occasion include nights and weekends.
  • Domestic Travel: monthly.
  • International travel 10%.
