Non-CDL Driver

As a member of the Operations team, the Non-CDL Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transporting and arrival of products, in a timely manner, to our customers and the other store locations. Prepares, packs, and scans products for pick-up and delivery.
Position responsibilities:
- Drive delivery truck or van to transport items to other stores or customer locations. Maintains driver’s license and clean driving record. Abides by all Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations and ensures all required documentation is with the vehicle (proof of insurance, fuel card, vehicle registration, etc.).
- Responsibility of maintaining hazmat placards subject to the hazmat products by route or delivery.
- Complete pre-inspections check of company vehicle before use and report any defects to supervisor.
- Returns vehicle at end of day, verifying it’s fully fueled, daily driver log and any associated paperwork are complete, and making sure the vehicle is secured.
- Maintain branch or customer communication while in route to inform them of any issues or changes to their delivery in adherence with Johnstone Supply commitments.
- Selects products from inventory to fill customer orders.
- Prepares, packs, and scans (as appropriate), and stages products for inter-store transfer and customer pick-up and delivery in accordance with established standards (e.g., hazardous materials). Ensures that packaging is sufficient to avoid damage.
- Processes documentation necessary to ship inter-store transfers and customer orders, including bills of lading, packing lists, small parcel manifests and other necessary documents.
- Loads delivery vehicles and assists customers with will call pickups.
- Processes customer returns. Ensures returns are in sellable condition per company policy.
- Verifies that warranty paperwork has been properly and neatly filled out. Initiates warranty return process, and stages product in warranty area.
Position requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED; at least 1 year of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6 months’ experience in warehouse operations in a wholesale environment preferred.
- Experience with computer or barcode driven inventory management systems preferred.
- Experience driving a forklift preferred.
Certificates, licenses, and Registrations:
- Must have a valid drivers’ license with a driving record indicating a safe driving history acceptable to the company and at all times remain eligible to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable laws and FMCSA regulations.
- DOT medical card required, or willing to obtain
