POSITION: Technology Asset and Resource Manager
LOCATION: Technology Services, JCPS Facility Services building
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
REPORTS TO: Technology Officer
DESCRIPTION:
This position provides oversight for the tracking and accounting of District technology assets. The primary areas of responsibility include ensuring account creation and management of district technology resource management systems, managing school-level IT allotments/deployments, providing oversight and support with district and site inventories, providing data to support technology related purchases, conduct school based IT audits, and serving as a liaison between the schools and the technology teams. The candidate will work with sites to ensure schools conduct inventories following best practices; track all technology assets including, but not limited to, PC workstations, laptops, chromebooks, tablets, interactive panels, switches, routers, and other computer and instructional related equipment. The manager will provide insight on JCPS IT Asset Management life cycle, including inventory management, analysis, deposition, and reporting.
Candidates will be responsible for ensuring the proper recording and accountability at the school level, and disseminate policies and procedures to verify appropriate safekeeping and custody of the JCPS technology assets that will comply with federal, state, and district policies.
This candidate must possess strong communication skills in order to provide technical assistance, guidance, and support for JCPS staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses asset accountability and tracking, inventory, and project management best practices to maintain JCPS technology inventories
- Oversees inventory control and the assignment of incoming equipment and supplies, ensuring an accurate, computerized inventory of all technology fixed assets in compliance with state, federal, and administrative regulations.
- Processes requests and related documentation (e.g., transfer forms, control numbers and tags, invoices, and requisitions) to ensure an accurate, computerized inventory of technology fixed assets is maintained.
- Assists with inventory management, procurement, and shipment activities.
- Assists sites to reconcile physical inventory and investigate any inconsistencies.
- Ensures old assets are disposed of following internal workflows including local, state, and federal procedures/guidelines.
- Develops and maintains office and site processes and policies for assets.
- Organize and maintain Technology Asset management plans and documents in google drive.
- Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
- Read and apply policies and procedures.
- Utilize the JCPS technology support system to receive requests, escalate issues as necessary, and provide notations as needed and resolve incidents.
- Manage and monitor the district technology asset resource management system; troubleshoot account incidents and communicate corrective steps to appropriate stakeholder(s).
- Provide management, oversight, guidance, and support for the technology asset inventories at the district and site levels.
- Provide the district guidelines, quotes, and support for all technology related purchases.
- Serve as a liaison between the schools, the support teams, and the technology teams.
- Communicate with sites and vendors to provide and maintain most current and efficient technologies to fit the district needs.
- Provide office support to the supervisor and Technology Services department.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree, preferably in Information Technology or Business from an accredited college/university or equivalent training and/or experience.
- Ability to perform technical problem and data analysis to manage complex projects
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
- Ability to use Google Workspace, emphasis on Google sheets and Excel spreadsheets
- Strong knowledge of Gmail and Google Apps for Education
- Ability to multi-task and function independently.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and work in a cooperative manner with school staff, other employees, and the community
- Collect, organize and analyze data, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Must be a problem solver and innovator.
- Must possess strong computer skills – expert in Excel to analyze large volumes of data.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated (personal initiative). Solid project management skills and experience are needed.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet schedules and deadlines in a timely manner.
- Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented with college-level coursework in business, project management, inventory control.
- Two (2) years of experience in technology assets and/or inventory control, developing and inputting information into databases, running database reports and working with inventory tracking and control software is recommended.
- Experience working in a warehouse environment or Information Technology department is highly desirable.
- Any other combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid North Carolina driver's license with no restrictions.
- Must be able to frequently or consistently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing 50lbs or more.
- Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking or other physical requirements are consistent with those for light to medium work.
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
