Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailer flatbed trucks on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Load, secure, and unload freight using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or other equipment as needed, including freight involving hazardous or dangerous goods
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to optimize delivery routes and meet delivery schedules
- Transport various types of cargo such as freight, refrigerated trailers, tanker loads, or automobile transportation units across long distances
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Load and unload cargo accurately while adhering to logistics cargo handling protocols
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with FMCSA regulations
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with flatbed endorsement required; experience with manual transmission preferred
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, route driving, or delivery driving roles involving flatbed or tanker trucks
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) and dangerous goods handling is highly desirable
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems effectively for route planning and adjustments
- Skilled in manual handling techniques for loading/unloading freight safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with truck loading/unloading procedures including forklift operation when necessary
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, and safety standards for over-the-road trucking
- 3 weeks OTR, 1 week home time.
