What will you do in this position?
This position is generally responsible for the cutting, carving, polishing, and sandblasting of monuments and markers according to diagrams and layouts, in addition to the list of essential job tasks below
- Apply and review stencil to granite memorials prior to blasting.
- Polish edges on marble or granite.
- Sandblast, hand polish or machine polish granite memorials.
- Sawing and grinding granite memorials.
- Drill holes and cut or carve moldings and grooves in stone according to diagrams.
- Affix bronze additions such as cross, lettering or rose to markers or monuments.
- Verify depths and dimensions of cuts or carvings to ensure adherence of specifications from orders.
- Carve rough designs freehand or by chipping along marks on stone using mallets and chisels.
- Shape, trim or touch up roughed-out designs with appropriate tools to finish carvings.
- Clean and repair memorials as required.
- Perform required maintenance of sandblast and polishing equipment.
- Assist with preparing granite for delivery after sandblasting has been completed, including the removal of stencil, and washing the stones.
- May assist other yard personnel with the unloading of granite deliveries and/or loading of the granite in the production plant while complying with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations for our industry.
- Required to hold forklift certification as required by OSHA.
- The position does have a seasonal layoff of approximately nine weeks (weather and business needed dependent).
What are we looking for?
- High school degree or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license.
- Prior forklift experience helpful.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail – can produce accurate work.
- Individual who enjoys working outdoors and on a variety of different tasks.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
- Ability to safely use and operate related work aides including motor driven pallet jacks, steel setting carts, truck mounted cranes and forklifts.

- Hours are 7:00am – 4:00pm Monday – Thursday and Friday 7am – 12:00pm.
