We are searching for the best talent for Engineering Manager.

• Purpose:
  As part of the Tech OPS Engineering Organization leads the technical direction and teams on installation, set-up and qualification of machining, finishing, cleaning and sterile packaging equipment and processes for the site. With responsibility for collaborating across Tech Ops, Quality, Plan, Operations, Finance and Project Management functions.
• This position supports the Orthopedics platform within J&J MedTech in manufacturing of orthopedic implants used in knee, hip and shoulder joint arthroplasty.

You will be responsible for:

In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

• Management and leadership of the Tech Ops Project Engineering teams within the Grecia, Alajuela site consisting of:
  • Equipment logistics & procurement operations
  • Production equipment maintenance
  • Manufacturing Consumable Analysts
  • Calibration services oversight
  • Automation systems
• Assuring manufacturing equipment and processes are installed, set up and validated according to schedule and in compliance with J&J procedures
• Oversees technical execution of projects. Provides comprehensive technical advice. Facilitates resolution of complex technical and operational problems.
• Promotes innovation initiatives for transfers, new products and ideas. Reviews and approves technical documentation to verify compliance to technical specifications and standards.
• Ensures implementation of multiple projects and programs for the business unit. Monitors smooth execution of plans and programs at lower levels and cross functionally.
• Building a strong credo-based culture within the Tech Ops Engineering organization
• Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
• Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
• Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
• Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
• Performs other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications / Requirements:

Experience and education

• Minimum Bachelors degree required in engineering, science, or technology
• Minimum of 6 years of experience required
• Minimum of 2 years direct supervisory experience required
• Experience in the Medical Device industry or other regulated industry required
• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices such as machining, cleaning and sterile packaging
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish across functions and both internally/externally
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures and in to comply civil rights requirements

Required knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications/licenses and affiliations

• People leadership
• Technical talent development
• Direct experience in manufacturing of high precision machined products within a highly regulated environment
• Knowledge of manufacturing plant finances, bills of materials, and manufacturing routes
• Experience with validation IQ/OQ/PQ and risk management documentation
• Presentation skills communicating Technical concepts to business partners
• Project Management experience in leading Technical project Preferred.
• Experience in Lean and/or 6 Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred.
• Experience in root-cause analysis in an industrial setting preferred.
