Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting any changes or concerns promptly.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties within the residence or community setting.
- Implement personalized care plans designed by healthcare professionals, including dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, and memory care strategies.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Document observations accurately in compliance with HIPAA guidelines and assist in updating care plans as needed.
- Use proper techniques for patient monitoring during activities such as walking or using assistive devices like the Hoyer lift or resident’s
. - Respond effectively during emergencies by executing CPR or first aid procedures when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members including nurses, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive resident support.
- Uphold all safety standards related to heavy lifting, patient monitoring, medication administration, and infection control practices.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is essential.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities of any kind.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and assisting residents with mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts safely.
- Experience with meal preparation, cleaning routines, and maintaining a safe environment aligned with health regulations.
