The Lamoille North Supervisory Union has an opening for two special education paraeducators for a self-contained alternative classroom at Johnson Elementary School. Successful candidate will be a caring and collaborative paraeducator to work within our joyful community of learners. The ideal candidate will:
*Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction and guidance of the special educator and classroom teachers.
*Assist in supporting learners' Individual Education Plans under the direction of the classroom teacher and special educator
*Provide support for the individual, small group, and classroom-size groups of learners inside and outside the classroom
*Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, student support,
*Assist and partner with classroom teachers to meet the needs of each individual
*Use positive supports for learners with emotional or behavioral needs
In Addition, the ideal candidate will:
*Participate in professional learning opportunities as designated
*Perform all duties as assigned
*Enjoy and collaborate within a learner-centered team environment.
The alternative classroom serves 5-7 students ranging from grades K-4; it is designed to provide a safe environment and additional support where students can build protective factors and experiences so that they can confidently learn, practice, and apply in various settings to be successful learners. Other staff include a general educator, BCBA consultant, and two classroom paraeducators.
