Position:  Audio Visual Coordinator

 

Location: Johnson Crossing (Grades 5/6)

 

Schedule:

  • 8 hours per day
  • Work Teacher Days

Compensation:     

  • $17.67 - $19.51 starting, per hour, depending on experience
  • If bilingual (English/Spanish): $19.51 - $21.54 per hour depending on experience

JOB TITLE: Audio/Visual Coordinator

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education Level:

  • High School Diploma
  • Some college level preparation or advanced training preferred

Certification/Licensure:

  • None Required
  • First Aid/CPR certificate desired

Experience Desired:

  • Some experience working with A/V equipment is desired

Other Requirements:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possess a positive attitude toward education and a helpful attitude toward people.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, faculty, and staff

 

REPORTS TO:  Library/Media Center Specialist and Building Administrator

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.

 

Basic:

Facilitate the implementation of A/V equipment into the educational environment

 

Frequent:

  1. Ability to work independently in a somewhat unsupervised setting.
  2. Ability to interact with teaching staff in a positive manner.
  3. Schedule the use and repair of A/V equipment.
  4. Train teachers in the use of A/V equipment when needed.
  5. Work with the Library/Media Center Specialist in coordinating the activities and programs of the Media Center, including establishing a budget for media materials, submitting all media requisitions, keeping records of expenditures, and approving bills for media items purchased.
  6. Provide assistance to teachers, students, and administrators in their planning, development, production, and use of A/V materials.
  7. Work with the Library/Media Center Specialist in preparing specifications for the purchase of equipment and materials and evaluating bids.
  8. Coordinate procurement of instructional materials and A/V equipment requested by departments.
  9. Maintain an inventory of all A/V equipment assigned to the school.
  10. Conduct, as needed, inservice activities on the production and use of A/V materials and equipment.
  11. Work with Library/Media Center Specialist to assist departmental groups, research committees, and curriculum study groups in developing new approaches for instruction, resource units, and evaluation of materials.
  12. Establish and supervise a system for scheduling and booking videos from ESU, university video libraries, and other rental or free loan sources.
  13. Work with Library/Media Center Specialist in submitting all necessary reports to the administration regarding media services and equipment.
  14. Work with Library/Media Center Specialist to keep administrators informed of their needs, services, and plans relating to the media program.
  15. Communicate with other members of the profession regarding trends and innovations by establishing a liaison with outside agencies and by attending workshops, conferences, and conventions relating to educational media.
  16. Supervise and schedule the completion of media production work.
  17. Serve the school in any other capacity not specifically covered in the job description as directed by the building administrator.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory): Visual and auditory acuity for student supervisory functions and skills in human relations.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Inside – Outside – Both: Both
  2. Climatic Environment: Air conditioned and heated buildings, however some buildings may not be air conditioned.
  3. Hazards: Exposure to communicable diseases, classroom, building, furniture, equipment, and some lifting.
