You’ll work closely with the dentist during procedures, help keep patients comfortable, and make sure the day runs smoothly. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, set up supplies, and make sure equipment is ready for use and properly maintained according to infection control standards.
- Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of procedures, including general and pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other treatments.
- Take dental X-rays and 3D scans while following proper safety, sterilization, and infection control procedures.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records using Dentrix or similar dental software, following HIPAA requirements.
- Take patient vital signs and review medical histories to help the dentist provide appropriate care.
- Explain basic oral health and post-treatment instructions to patients and answer questions about their treatment when appropriate.
- Help the front desk team with scheduling, patient flow, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Skills
- Comfortable using Dentrix or similar dental software for charting, scheduling, and patient records.
- Familiar with dental terminology, anatomy, instruments, equipment, and X-ray procedures.
- Knowledge of infection control, instrument sterilization, and proper aseptic techniques.
- Able to assist chairside and work efficiently with the dentist using four-handed dentistry.
- Friendly, professional communication skills and a patient-focused approach.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work well as part of a team.
