CMM Programmer/Operator

Johnson Contracting Company, an established manufacturing company located in East Moline, IL, is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer/Operator to fill an open position in our Inspection Department.

Position: CMM Programmer/Operator

Department: Quality

Location: East Moline, IL 61244

Reports to: Production/Inspection Manager

Job purpose

The role of the CMM Programmer/Operator is pivotal in the production process, conducting consistent inspections on finished products and components, per drawings/specifications, to ensure products meet quality standards prior to distribution. As part of this position, individual will perform random checks on documents and production processes to ensure accuracy, as well as check, maintain, and perform control system calibrations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

· Determine part inspection requirements from internal or customer drawings.

· Create or edit programs for the coordinate measuring machine (CMM).

· Utilize the programs to complete dimensional inspection using the coordinate measuring machine (CMM).

· Conduct Romer Arm inspection by programming and completing the dimensional inspection of final assembly and component parts.

· Analyze and troubleshoot Romer Arm setups and inspection paths.

· Understand and utilize GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) to complete detailed part inspection.

· Ensure the part inspection programs are consistent with part number and revision level.

· Complete PPAP and ISIR dimensional reports.

· Conduct finished product inspections with hand gauges and measurement systems.

· Inspect first piece of work order parts for correctness.

· Perform inspections on incoming goods as required.

· Log and maintain inspection data as needed for evaluating and reporting.

· Maintain calibration system and conduct calibrations as needed.

· Support all ISO:2015 quality objectives.

Secondary

· Cross train on overlapping job functions.

· Support all inspection processes to ensure high quality products.

· Other duties as assigned by manager.

Required Qualifications

· Strong ability to develop inspection programs, using Polywork’s software system or equivalent.

· 2-3 years minimum experience with CMM and Romer Arm programming and operation.

· Strong proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

· Strong proficiency interpreting GD&T standards highly desired.

· Able to use quality inspection hand tools.

· Strong knowledge of inspection techniques, measuring tools, and gages.

· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

· High comfort level interfacing with staff and management while working in a fast-paced environment.

· Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

· Strong computer skills.

· Able to interpret quality data.

· Strong math and critical reasoning skills.

Education / Experience

· High School degree.

· 2-5 years of inspection experience.

Working Conditions

· Position will work within a team atmosphere focused on production standards as well as best practices for future growth.

· Position requires activity throughout a manufacturing/ machinery/shop setting.

· Position will require interacting and working within a shop/manufacturing environment where welding equipment and various machinery are used.

·Starting wage negotiable and commensurate with experience level.

Physical Requirements

· Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

· Position requires a significant amount of time standing, bending, and lifting materials required to fulfill the inspection process.

· Able to see clearly to conduct inspections.
