Summary:
The RN - Perinatal Nurse Outreach Educator is responsible for assisting with the orientation and education of Neonatal Intensive Care, Intermediate Care and Newborn Nursery Nurses, and developing on-going educational programs including Center for Women's Health staff and hospitals of the Perinatal Catchment area. The RN serves as a resource and support person in the catchment area and develops/assists in the development of programs for the area, and also serves as a liaison with all aspects of the Perinatal program.
The RN - Neonatal Nurse Outreach Education will participate in development of care plans, protocols, and guideline nursing services in community hospitals as requested. This individual will serve as a nursing consultative resource and as a liaison between referring hospital nurses and the Perinatal Center; participates in site visits and formulates recommendations along with the Medical Co-Director regarding equipment, personnel, education and other needs for nursing services. The RN will participate in local and state committees regarding perinatal care, as well as in medical and nursing research in Perinatal Center as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, Master's degree preferred. Three years experience in perinatal care is preferred. Associates plus 5 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors. Demonstrates competency as an excellent practitioner with a high degree of current knowledge and clinical experience. Experience in preparation of classes for nursery nurses and related professionals and be able to develop appropriate course outlines and teaching plans to provide interesting and educational opportunities. Must maintain a valid driver's license.
