Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Automotive Technician role based at Johnson Automotive in Cary, NC. The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing routine vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and safety inspections according to manufacturer and dealership standards. The role includes diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, including brakes, suspension, and general automotive systems, using appropriate diagnostic tools and service procedures. The technician will document all work performed, communicate findings and recommendations clearly to service advisors, and help ensure timely completion of repairs to support an excellent guest experience. Additional duties include maintaining an organized, safe work area, following all safety and compliance guidelines, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with evolving automotive technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair, with the ability to follow manufacturer and dealership service procedures.
- Hands-on experience performing Oil Changes and other routine services efficiently and accurately.
- Proficiency in Automotive Repair, including diagnosing and resolving mechanical and basic electrical issues.
- Working knowledge of Suspension systems and related components, including inspection and repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an automotive technology program or technical training is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE) or willingness to work toward certification are a plus.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, service information systems, and basic computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail, safety-focused mindset, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with service advisors and team members.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to operate a variety of vehicles.
