LIGHT DUTY MECHANIC / DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN
Johnson Auto Body – Tolland, CT
Johnson Auto Body is seeking an experienced Light Duty Mechanic / Assembly & Reassembly Technician to join our collision repair team.
This is a hands-on position for someone with strong mechanical skills who is comfortable working on a wide variety of vehicles and performing both light mechanical repairs and collision-related disassembly, assembly and reassembly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform wheel alignments
- Diagnose and perform A/C service and repairs
- Remove and replace airbag/SRS components
- Repair and replace steering and suspension components
- Perform tire service
- Remove and replace exhaust components
- Remove, install and adjust headlights and taillights
- Remove and install bumpers, fenders and related body components
- Disassemble vehicles for collision repairs
- Assemble and reassemble vehicles following repairs
- Remove and reinstall mechanical and electrical components as needed during the repair process
- Inspect completed work to ensure components are properly installed and functioning
- Work closely with body technicians, painters and other members of the production team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous automotive mechanical experience required
- Experience with wheel alignments and A/C work preferred
- Knowledge of steering, suspension, SRS/airbag and basic electrical systems
- Comfortable disassembling, assembling and reassembling late-model vehicles
- Ability to work efficiently and stay organized
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable and able to work as part of a team
- Collision repair or auto body experience is a plus
- Must have your own basic hand tools
