What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional/Teacher's Assistant position at Johnsburg School District 12?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Evidence of High School diploma/equivalent or Associates Degree
- Complete 30 semester hours of college credit at an accredited institution or pass the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment with a 460 minimum passing score (evidence is a copy of your score report) or receive acceptable score on ACT WorkKeys assessments (evidence of passing score must be given) (Requirements per ISBE 73-95)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Respect confidentiality
- Must be able to use tact and diplomacy in human relations
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with instruction and helping of individual students or in small groups, as needed
- Supervision of student during lunch, hallway and bathroom time
- Learn and assist with student communication devices
- Assist and support teachers to organize learning experiences for student(s)
- Under teacher direction and guidance, assist in assessing student needs and progress
- Attend meetings as scheduled
- Attend offerings for professional growth
- Adhere to the district's expectations with regards to attendance and punctuality
- Promote a positive relationship with students, staff and community
- Help maintain an attractive and inviting classroom environment
- Perform any task or responsibilities which may be directed by the Teacher, Building Principal or Student Services Director
