We are seeking a motivated software engineer to help us build innovative modeling and simulation (M&S) applications to support the development of next-generation strike weapons, combat air vehicles and other critical capabilities. You'll be joining our team of developers and analysts who work together to create a variety of solutions to multifaceted challenges.
We are a large team of 50 engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and computer scientists who perform mission-level analysis to drive acquisition decisions on important precision strike technologies. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. As a Software Engineer, you will...
- Develop and enhance C modeling and simulation capabilities representing radar, tracking, engagement, and related mission-system behaviors
- Deliver software tools that enable analysts use to assess military utility, system requirements, and capability tradeoffs for air dominance and strike systems
- Collaborate with a well-rounded team of engineers and analysts to build, adapt, and integrate software for applications, infrastructure, and user interfaces
- Participate in defining requirements, designing, developing, testing, integrating, delivering, and maintaining M&S tools
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Have a demonstrated record of developing robust, maintainable software using modern C 17 or newer
- Can communicate effectively with end-users about technical issues and new software capabilities.
- Are willing, able and passionate about learning new concepts and growing your personal skill set.
- Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
- Have a Master's degree or PhD in a related technical field.
- Are proficient using Git, CMake, and Conan
- Have experience with DevSecOps, especially using GitLab or Docker
- Have experience using GoogleTest (GTest) for unit and regression testing code.
- Have experience with AFSIM's simulation framework and developing plugins for it
- Have experience working with Tracking and Filtering, Data Fusion, RF, or Electronic Warfare
- Are familiar with Java, Python, or MATLAB
