Sibley Memorial Hospital is seeking highly motivated and dedicated nursing students to join our team as Nursing Student Externs. This Nursing Student Extern position offers a unique opportunity for aspiring nurses to enhance their clinical skills, gain real-world experience, and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care. As a Nursing Student Extern at Sibley, you will have the opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment. This externship is a 10-week summer program designed to provide nursing students with exposure to various clinical settings, enhance their clinical skills, and foster their professional development.

- Hands-On Experience: As an extern, you will assist registered nurses in providing patient care. You will collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient center care and have the change to participate in patient assessments, monitoring and documentation.
- Professional Development: Participate in several classes and luncheons to learn about becoming a nurse at Sibley Memorial Hospital! Opportunity to stay on after the summer PRN to continue to grow your confidence as you near graduation.
- Learning Opportunities: Enhanced skills day opportunity! Some skills you may learn throughout your externship include: sterile dressing changes, wound care, specimen collection, trachea care and suction, IV insertions, and so much more!
- Mentorship: Work 1:1 with an experienced RN for guidance and support.
Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts, Full time during the 10-week summer program
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing
- BLS CPR certification required
- Successful completion of at least one Med/Surg clinical rotation
- Expected graduation date December ’24 or May ‘25
