Job Title: Social Worker – Behavioral Health (Crisis Intervention)
Overview: We’re seeking a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) to provide crisis and behavioral health services in the Emergency and Psychiatry departments. The Social Worker II performs psychosocial evaluations, crisis assessments, individual and group therapy, discharge planning, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely, high-quality care and appropriate community referrals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and psychiatric crisis assessments in the ED and psychiatry unit using standard tools.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy, evidence-based interventions, and treatment planning.
- Coordinate and implement timely discharge planning and placement, working with physicians, families, payers, and community resources.
- Communicate assessment findings and disposition recommendations to ED staff and on-call psychiatrists.
- Document assessments, progress notes, and discharge plans per program standards and timelines.
- Participate in quality improvement, staff education, and program development initiatives.
- Maintain competency in high-risk patient assessment and crisis intervention techniques.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: LICSW (District of Columbia) required; LCSW/LGPC/LGSW considered if eligible for supervision requirements.
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related field (sociology, gerontology, counseling, psychology).
- 2–5 years’ experience in psychiatric social work or crisis management, with adult and geriatric populations preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment; proficient with electronic health records.
Supervision: Reports to Social Work Coordinator and Medical Directors, Psychiatry and Emergency Services. May supervise LGSW staff as applicable.
Salary Range: Minimum 1.00/hour - Maximum 1,000.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
