POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recreation Gaming Specialist (Grant-Funded) is responsible for management, performance, and completion of patient facing recreational and educational technology-based projects. This position is responsible for providing overall gaming strategy, training and technical support. Assists with assessing, installing, documenting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting gaming systems, peripherals, and related hardware within the context of the Child life Department. The Recreation Gaming Specialist must be familiar with trending popular recreational technology and how it can be integrated into current patient facing hospital needs. Works with Leaders, clinical staff, patients and their families from multidisciplinary groups to provide coordinated support and the strategic delivery of one time and ongoing projects. Supports patient technology related research relevant to their role as needed.
LOCATION: St. Petersburg, FL
HOURS: 9a – 5:30p, Weekend Work Required as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Experience working with children ages 2-20
- Experience with coordination of events and projects.
- Experience working or volunteering in a hospital setting with patients and families.
- Must have knowledge of current digital gaming hardware and software.
- Experience with VR and AR technology.
- Knowledge of IOS, Android and Windows-based devices.
- Certified Recreation Therapist or Certified Child Life Specialist preferred but not required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and AED training.
