Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Gastrointestinal (GI) Technician to join our dedicated team at Johns Hopkins Intrastaff in a short term assignment (13 weeks) . The GI Technician will provide support during endoscopic procedures, including preparing equipment, assisting physicians, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and sterilizing medical instruments, documenting procedure details, monitoring infection control procedures, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. This is an on-site role located in Lutherville, MD.
Qualifications
Knowledge of aseptic technique, basic wound care, patient safety, and patient transport techniques.
Knowledge of recording and reporting pertinent clinical data.
Knowledge of initiation and management of specialized patient care equipment
Knowledge of setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting of endoscopy-specific equipment, including endoscopes, processors, towers, light sources, and related accessories
Basic analytical ability is required to:
Operate electronic monitoring equipment
Determine appropriate information and resources
Organize and summarize information
Make judgments regarding routine patient care activities within scope of practice
Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships
- Demonstrate skillsin performing routine patient care activities (i.e. VS, pulse, oximetry, ht/wt, abdominal girth).
