Description Do you love to solve complex research, engineering or analytical problems? Are you interested in exploring different domains such as defense systems, cyber operations, space exploration, national security analysis, and national health? If you are soon graduating or have recently graduated with a BS or MS degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and want to make critical contributions to critical challenges, we'd love to have you join our team! We are seeking early career staff to join the Discovery Program, APL's two-year technical rotation program. In the Discovery Program, you will apply innovative solutions to real-world national challenges as you rotate through four unique technical groups across APL. You will gain broad exposure to our twelve mission areas while honing your skills across multiple domains. Over the two years, you will develop strong connections with engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and technical specialists across the Lab. You'll be joining a cohort of 20 engaged early career staff working together to establish their career foundations through experiential learning and tailored training. As a member of the Discovery Program, you will… Apply your technical skills to meet unique mission needs in your technical rotations. Participate in targeted training courses, experiences, and events to enhance your growth early in your career. Develop and use a wide network of connections across APL to drive impact. Participate in the APL Innovation Ecosystem, where you can propose, explore, and refine your novel ideas to tackle critical challenges. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Have a BS or MS in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Have strong technical experience as proven in at least one internship, research experience, or project outside of the classroom. Thrive in a collaborative team environment. Are able to acquire an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately acquire a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
