Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. General Information: The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Adjunct Faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credits hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.

Responsibilities:To provide primarily on-campus, traditional delivery on the Chester and Midlothian campuses of the college, with limited opportunities for online instruction. Courses offered in the discipline include Advanced Music Theory I & II, Applied Music-Brass, Applied Music-Keyboard, Applied Music-Percussion, Applied Music-Strings, Applied Music-Voice, Applied Music-Woodwinds, Band Ensemble, Basic Musicianship I, Chamber Ensemble, Chorus Ensemble, Class Piano I & II, Class Voice I & II, Guitar Theory and Practice I & II, History of Music I & II, Jazz Chamber Ensemble, Music Appreciation I, Music Theory I & II, Orchestra Ensemble, and Small Vocal Ensemble.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
