Key Responsibilities
Inspect and Diagnose: Perform thorough inspections of diesel engines and related systems to identify issues and diagnose problems.
Repair and Maintain: Conduct repairs on diesel engines, including but not limited to replacing or repairing components in engine/fuel systems, brake systems, steering, suspension, HVAC, drivetrain and emissions/aftertreatment.
Routine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts to ensure optimal performance.
Testing and Troubleshooting: Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper functionality and troubleshoot any remaining issues.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed on vehicles.
Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers regarding the condition of their vehicles and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: Two to three years previous experience as a diesel mechanic is required. On-the-job training is not available.
Certifications: While not required, certifications such as ASE, Brakes, HVAC, Engine MFG (Cummins, Detroit, Mack/Volvo) is desired.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of diesel engine components and systems, as well as proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy parts and working in various positions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
