Our drivers are the face of the company—trusted to operate equipment safely, support customers during stressful situations, and deliver service that earns 5‑star reviews.

This role is ideal for experienced operators and motivated drivers looking to build a long‑term career with a respected, established towing company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tow trucks and recovery equipment safely and efficiently (flatbed, wheel-lift, and medium/heavy duty as assigned)
  • Respond promptly to dispatch instructions and accept all Towbook calls, being en route within 5 minutes
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections in Towbook, including required photos, and report maintenance issues immediately
  • Secure, transport, and deliver vehicles without damage, using proper hook points, chains, straps, and wheel chocks
  • Follow all on-scene and destination procedures, including required pre- and post-tow photos and proper equipment stowage
  • Never drive vehicles on or off the deck
  • Perform roadside assistance services as needed (jump starts, lockouts, tire changes, winching, recoveries, etc.)
  • Accurately complete electronic paperwork, timestamps, notes, mileage verification, and photo documentation in dispatch software
  • Complete tows within 1 hour and 15 minutes unless delays are properly documented
  • Document and photograph any additional services performed; no photos means no additional billing
  • For police calls, follow all standard procedures and upload required IVR or police report photos
  • Park vehicles in the yard according to police instructions and designated areas; keep the yard clean and free of debris
  • Maintain assigned truck and equipment in clean, professional, and working condition
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service, including during high-stress situations
  • Report lost, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment immediately
  • Arrive on time, warm up the truck, complete inspections, and be staged in the City of Aurora at the start of the shift
  • Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable laws; violations may result in disciplinary action up to termination

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license (CDL may be required depending on truck class)
  • Must reside within 30 miles of the John’s Towing office to meet response‑time and on‑call requirements
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to pass and maintain a valid DOT physical (when required by position)
  • Clean or acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call shifts
  • Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather condition

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous towing or roadside assistance experience
  • Familiarity with Colorado PUC regulations related to towing and transportation
  • Experience using Towbook or similar dispatch software
  • Mechanical aptitude or automotive knowledge
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Extended driving periods
  • Physically demanding tasks including winching, loading, and securing vehicles
  • Exposure to roadside hazards; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
