Responsibilities
- Safely operate dump trucks, including roll-off trucks and tractor-trailers, to transport materials such as gravel, dirt, debris, or other bulk loads.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary.
- Follow designated routes driving to and from construction sites, warehouses, or disposal facilities while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the truck’s mechanical systems, brakes, lights, and load security to ensure safe operation.
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, fuel consumption, cargo details, and delivery times for record-keeping purposes.
- Assist with securing loads on flatbeds or refrigerated trailers when required to ensure safe transportation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site managers regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver, specifically operating dump trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles such as roll-off or tractor-trailers.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for manual transmission operation preferred.
- Familiarity with driving refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and freight hauling is advantageous.
- Knowledge of load & unload procedures along with route driving experience in construction or industrial settings.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts safely when needed.
