St. John Paul II Academy High School is seeking a qualified Event Planner for the 2025-2026 school year. The primary responsibilities of the Event Coordinator involve planning, organizing, and executing school events that foster community engagement, support fundraising efforts, and enhance the Catholic identity of the school.


Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.


Responsibilities:

The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.

  • As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church  Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Develops and executes a strategic development plan aligned with the school’s mission, vision, and financial goals
  • Manages all major fundraising initiatives, including, but not limited to, the annual fund, capital campaigns, and endowment growth
  • Plans and executes all aspects of school fundraising events, including fundraising galas/events and alumni gatherings including development of timelines and task lists, tracking of expenses, coordinating logistics (e.g. scheduling, venue selection, vendors, decorating, entertainment, ticket sales, registration), and serving as primary point of contact
  • Collaborates with school staff, parent volunteers, and local businesses to build event support
  • Provides direction and support to volunteers before, during, and after events
  • Assists in developing fundraising strategies and securing sponsorships or donations
  • Maintains accurate event records
  • Facilitates post-event tasks including donor acknowledgements, thank-you notes and related reports
  • Ensures all events reflect and uphold the Catholic values and traditions of the school
  • Collaborate with campus ministry or clergy to integrate faith elements into appropriate events
  • Foster a welcoming, faith-filled atmosphere that encourages school spirit and unity
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Mental/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, bend, or move objects 10 pounds or more
  • Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress


Organization Improvement and Morale:

  • Demonstrates a professional attitude as a member of diocesan staff
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters of assigned department and the diocese
  • Serves as a representative of the diocese displaying courtesy, tact, positivity, and discretion in all interactions with colleagues and community served
  • Carries out commitments made to diocesan colleagues and community served
  • Employs professional ethics in relationships with diocesan colleagues and community served
  • Positively contributes to the overall mission and values of the Diocese of Corpus Christi to promote a positive organizational culture

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • 2 years of experience in event planning, project management, or school-based activities preferred
  • Must have valid Texas driver's license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Strong organizational and project management skills preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Proficiency in donor database systems preferred
  • Friendly, professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary (especially during school events).


Position Information:

  • Reports to Director of Development/High School and Middle School Principals
  • Part-time, non-exempt position
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
