What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at John Moriarty & Associates?
The Assistant Superintendent supports the planning, coordination, and execution of day-to-day field operations to help ensure the successful delivery of construction projects. Working closely with the Superintendent and project team, this role assists in overseeing self-performed and subcontracted work, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring quality workmanship. The Assistant Superintendent plays a key role in coordinating site activities, resolving field issues, and fostering a collaborative and productive jobsite environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide as-builts and field reports verifying site conditions comply with contract documents and project specifications.
- Manage/schedule MEP testing (duct and pipe) and maintain documentation.
- Develop and track deficiency and corrective action logs from JMA, design team, and/or 3rd party consultants field reports. Distribute weekly at the foreman’s meeting for review. Distribute to subcontractor PM’s weekly.
- Manage and consult field engineers to ensure line, grade, and layout is accurate and on schedule.
- Provide support as required to JMA Assistant and/or Project Superintendents managing site logistics and subcontractors (i.e. deliveries, additional layout, clarification of details, coordination between trades, monthly BTD permit renewals.)
- Provide support as required to JMA Safety Officer ensuring safe work practices on-site (i.e. establishing controlled access zones, enforcing PPE compliance, managing hot work documentation and compliance.)
- Organize and maintain daily SWPPP reports as required. Notify the Project Super on any deficiencies that require attention.
Qualifications:
- 0-5 years of experience within the construction industry as a super or similar role.
- Bachelor’s Degree. Engineering, Construction Management or related field focus is preferred.
- High proficiency using survey equipment and providing layout and supervising field engineers.
- Proficient in Bluebeam for marking up documents, Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on facility with Microsoft Excel and Autodesk Forma platform.
- Proficient document literacy (can reference architectural details and cross-reference between document sets, can access and reference technical details in shop drawings, can access and reference information in project specifications.)
- CSL License
- NFPA Hot Work Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
