Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote personal hygiene and comfort
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to prescribed schedules
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents with meal consumption when necessary
- Facilitate patient transfers using appropriate methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques, ensuring safety for both resident and caregiver
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering positive communication and respecting residents’ rights and preferences
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in condition or behavior promptly
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and support for individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities
- Ability to operate medical equipment such as blood pressure cuffs or Hoyer lifts safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents, families, and healthcare team members
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, manual handling, and patient transfers while maintaining safety standards
- Experience assisting with complex care plans involving medication administration or specialized therapies such as CPR or first aid certification is advantageous
