Elementary Principal - 2026-2027

SUMMARY:

Winchester Public Schools seeks an experienced, dynamic educator with outstanding professional and interpersonal skills to lead John Kerr Elementary School.  The successful candidate will possess the experience and skills to lead the instructional team, engage the entire school community, and build a strong school culture. The school offers the division's Early Childhood Special Education Programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess a Virginia Postgraduate Professional license (or ability to attain) with an endorsement in educational administration. Minimum of three years of successful administrative experience at the school level with experience at the elementary level preferred. The position requires outstanding personal and professional characteristics; dynamic and proven leadership in a high achieving elementary school; ability to work effectively with school personnel and members of the community; superior writing and speaking skills; strong instructional knowledge and demonstrated leadership in the management of instructional programs; and a master at team development to achieve results.

LOCATION:

Winchester Public Schools is comprised of one high school, one middle school, one intermediate school, four elementary schools including a Pre-K program, and one alternative education program serving over 4,000 students, supported by approximately 725 full-time employees. Winchester is situated in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, 65 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Its location, rich history, and diverse economic base make it an attractive community in which to live.

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience. Range is $105,000 - $161,698 based on the 2025-2026 salary scale.  Range may be adjusted in accordance with the 2026-2027 School Board budget.  Additional $8,460 for earned Doctorate Degree.

Full time/12 months/260 Days
