Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery, ensuring smooth clinical flow
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and equipment following strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate advanced imaging tools such as 3D scanners while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient records using electronic dental record systems like Dentrix, and patient management software to ensure accurate documentation of medical and dental histories
- Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices to promote long-term dental wellness
- Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and handle patient inquiries efficiently
- Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive medical documentation and coding for billing purposes
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment, with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Proficiency in electronic dental records systems such as, Dentrix, or similar software; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care
- Certification in X-ray operation (Dental X-ray license) along with expertise in dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and handling dental instruments efficiently
- Knowledge of dental equipment operation including 3D scanners, medical imaging devices, and dental handpieces
- Excellent communication skills as a Dental Receptionist or Patient Care Coordinator; ability to manage patient flow with professionalism and empathy
- Commitment to clinical confidentiality policies, healthcare infection control standards, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe practice
