Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in estimating commercial construction projects, interpreting technical drawings, and managing project budgets. This role requires a strong understanding of construction management software, estimating tools, and effective client communication. The Construction Estimator will play a critical role in project planning, cost control, and ensuring accurate pricing for bids and proposals. Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
- Utilize The Estimating Edge to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets, including material costs, labor estimates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes.
- Conduct cost analysis and manage project budgets throughout the bidding process and project execution.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to negotiate pricing and scope of work.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals ensuring accuracy in pricing, scope, and schedule considerations.
- Monitor material costs and adjust estimates accordingly to maintain profitability.
- Review contracts, manage risks related to cost overruns, and provide recommendations for cost control measures.
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new estimating techniques, and changes in construction codes or regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with a focus on commercial construction projects.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, The Estimating Edge and other estimating or construction management software.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and construction drawings accurately.
- Experience managing project budgets from initial estimate through completion with an emphasis on cost control.
- Knowledge of material cost estimating from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent negotiation skills for working with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Background in construction site experience or construction management is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with contracts, project management principles, and construction site safety standards is preferred.
