What are the responsibilities and job description for the Combination Welder (Field Services) position at John H. Carter Company?
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create quality welds in accordance with drawings, specifications, applicable codes and standards, etc., and have welds pass inspection/examination in accordance with ASME Sec IX acceptance criteria and utilizing typical welding inspection non-destructive examination methods
- Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel/aluminum parts
- Change wire, welding, as needed
- Change gas tanks as required
- Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions
- Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers
- Performs minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools and equipment
- Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as required
Certifications, Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree or trade school certification in craft preferred, but significant hands-on experience will also be considered
- Strong, hands-on background in welding of plate, piping (including small bore) and structural components, including carbon steel and stainless steel (where applicable), using GTAW, GMAW, SMAW and FCAW welding processes and equipment
- Minimum 5 years of industrial welding experience desired, but will consider lesser experience depending upon individual
