POSITION SUMMARY
Seeking a hands on Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team! This role focuses on designing, building, and validating automated machines deployed worldwide. Scope includes machine and fixture design, structural and load analysis, motor and actuator specification, hydraulic system integration, and prototype assembly. Occasional domestic and international travel required (up to 10-15%).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
New Product Development
- Design machines, fixtures, and tooling for pipe end forming and related manufacturing processes
- Perform static and dynamic mechanical analysis to validate component and machine design.
- Specify and integrate motors, drives, hydraulic rams, couplings, splined shafts, bearings, fasteners, and other mechanical and electromechanical components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, quality, logistics and marketing teams to support product implementation and launch. Build and assemble prototypes; perform bench testing, Gage R&R studies, tolerance analysis, and design validation activities.
- Maintain and update mechanical documentation: drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and revision histories
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for field or manufacturing issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent — 2–7 years in machine design, product development, or electromechanical product development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of FMEA and reliability engineering concepts
- Machine Design: machine and fixture design: structural frames, linkages, cams, gearing, bearings.
- Familiarity with FEA concepts (e.g., static stress, deflection); ability to perform basic load and stress calculations by hand or with software. Solidworks, Ansys or Abaqus experience preferred.
- Experience specifying and integrating motors, motor couplings, splined shafts, hydraulic rams, fasteners, and threaded components
- Hands-on prototype build and assembly experience; comfortable in a shop environment with standard machining and fabrication methods
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and schematics: able to read wiring diagrams, understand circuit function, and collaborate effectively with electrical engineers
- Identify, interpret and ensure compliance with relevant international standards.
- Proficiency in CAD software for 3D Modeling, assemblies and 2D detailed drawings. Solidworks preferred.
- Experience with GD&T concepts; ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings per ASME Y14.5
- Hydraulics & Fluid Power: working knowledge of hydraulic systems: cylinder sizing, valve selection, circuit layout, and hose/fitting specification
- Experience mounting and plumbing hydraulic rams and associated hardware in machine assemblies
