Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Reading Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators in a school-based instructional setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in reading instruction and demonstrate a commitment to fostering literacy development for all students. This position requires expertise in evidence-based reading strategies and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality reading instruction aligned with CT Core Standards.
- Utilize best practices in literacy, including:
- Explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Use of formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and support staff to ensure cohesive literacy support.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes a love of reading.
Qualifications
- Valid CTDOE certification in Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts, 1–12 (102).
- Demonstrated knowledge of current research and best practices in reading instruction.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
