Our client is a well-established and growing Maryland construction company seeking Chief of Staff for their 8-employee corporate office, supporting 70 employees in the field.
This is a hands-on, highly visible role supporting the CEO, President, Controller, and other company leadership.
You’ll keep the office running day to day and help improve the culture, talent brand, and systems behind the business.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the first point of contact in the office at the reception desk, managing phones, visitors, supplies, vendors, calendars, and general office needs.
- Assist the Controller with weekly payroll, accounts payable, and accurate data entry.
- Lead all HR work for the company: onboarding, benefits, employee records, recruiting, training/certification tracking, handbook policies, etc.
- Build a stronger culture through employee engagement initiatives and internal communications.
- Maintain files, procedures, and compliance documentation (insurance, safety, licenses).
- Find and implement ways to make the office work more efficiently.
- Support for marketing, social media, and company website.
What you bring
- 5-10 years of administrative, office management, or operations support experience
- 1-2 years of HR experience
- Accounting or payroll experience preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort learning new systems
- Proven experience with process improvement and creating efficiencies for a company
- Excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail
- Discretion with confidential information and a “no task is beneath me” attitude
- Ability to work on-site five days a week, starting by 8:00 a.m. to 4:30pm
- Construction background is a plus
- Spanish-speaking skills are a plus
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
