What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator & Yard CDL Driver- 2nd Shift position at JOHN B SANFILIPPO & SON, INC?
The Forklift Operator/Yard CDL Driver performs all Forklift Operator I, II, and III responsibilities within the distribution, warehouse, and receiving departments. This position operates yard trucks to move trailers, utilizes a variety of material handling equipment, and supports the accurate movement, storage, and documentation of materials. The role also includes training employees on warehouse tasks and may be assigned additional duties based on operational needs.
Functions of the Position:
- Unload trucks and containers of raw or finished goods; verify receipts against order documentation; sign and stamp bills of lading; enter inventory into QAD.
- Verify and apply labels as required; rotate inventory following FIFO or FEFO processes.
- Pick work order demands, stage products for production, load trucks, fulfill customer orders, and store finished goods.
- Operate yard trucks to move trailers in and out of dock doors or around the truck yard.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, taping open cases, and organizing empty pallets.
- Perform pre-operational inspections on all material handling equipment and report issues or damages.
- Properly handle and maintain hand-held scanning equipment.
- Provide training to employees on various warehouse tasks and equipment operation.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge
- 2–3 years of forklift driving experience
- Knowledge of safe forklift operation
- Experience in food operations preferred
Certifications
CDL Class A license (required)
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Basic math skills
- Ability to train others effectively
