Jogue, Inc. has an opening for the position of Quality Control Chemist
(Ref# QCC1112ACS).
Work Location: 100 Rural Hill Road, Northville, MI 48167.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for analytical testing of chemical compounds to determine purity level for food safety and quality.
- Perform gas chromatography and mass spectrometry of competitor’s flavor samples, finished goods, and raw materials. Identify all peaks of chemical compounds and determine composition as the first step in matching flavors.
- Responsible for accurate preparation of flavor, syrup, and base samples for research and development projects, also evaluate and manage the same.
- Create nutritional panels using ESHA Genesis software, ingredient legends, specification sheets, and SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for all new R&D creations. Periodically evaluate and forecast the flavor trends in industry.
- Coordinate with customers and plants with regards to all product development projects. Coordinate execution of production of newly developed products.
- Run microbiological testing (TPC, Yeast & Mold, E. Coli and Coliform) of all products manufactured in-house.
- Accurately set up and taste all products and compare them to the standards including Brix, pH, Titratable Acidity, Flavor Profile, Vanillin Content, Viscosity, and Bostwick testing.
- Implement Qualified Organic System, determine root cause (RCA – Root Cause Analysis) and issue corrective actions (CAPA – Corrective and Preventive Action).
- Execute process control (SPC – Statistical Process Control) and supplier approval program.
- Thoroughly review all lab formulas for accurate completion and filing each day.
- Involved in the innovation of new flavor ideas for bakery, beverage, confectionary, and dairy foods.
- Implement SQF (Safe Quality Food), PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual), and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards throughout the plant.
Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Food Science or a related field. Plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation including Food Scientist or related experience. Position requires 2 years of experience with analytical quality testing. 40hrs/week.
