Joe’s Sporting Goods is a family-owned retailer dedicated to outfitting outdoor enthusiasts with top-quality gear and expert advice. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Buyer’s Assistant/Data Entry team member for the Buyer’s Assistant Department to support our database needs.
Position Overview:
The Buyer’s Assistant/Data Entry job plays a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of product, vendor, and purchase order data across our retail and e-commerce systems. This position is responsible for data entry, validation, and updates within various databases to support purchasing and inventory.
This role requires a high level of attention to detail, proficiency with spreadsheets and database tools, and the ability to manage repetitive tasks with accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data entry
- Processing purchase orders, reconciling received and invoiced data
- Maintain accurate product, vendor, and purchase order data
- Support purchasing and inventory
- Performing regular data audits
- Collaborate closely with buying, accounting, and e-commerce teams to ensure that product information, pricing, and availability are accurately reflected.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data processing.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in data entry, inventory maintenance, or administrative support.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar spreadsheet tools.
- Familiarity with ERP, POS, or inventory management systems (e.g., CounterPoint, Shopify, or similar platforms).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying data discrepancies or inconsistencies.
- Ability to work independently and maintain focus during repetitive or high-volume data tasks.
- High level of integrity when handling sensitive or proprietary business information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with retail or e-commerce data environments.
- Understanding of product data structures, SKUs, UPCs, and vendor item records.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Management, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
