Responsibilities
- Perform precise meat cutting, trimming, slicing, and portioning using various butchery tools and meat processing machines
- Prepare a variety of meat products according to established recipes and quality standards
- Operate food industry equipment safely and efficiently, including meat processing machines and slicers
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety sanitizing procedures, ensuring cleanliness of workstations and equipment
- Package meat products securely for retail display or customer orders, ensuring proper labeling and presentation
- Conduct visual inspections to monitor quality control, checking for freshness, appearance, and signs of spoilage
- Assist customers with their selections, providing knowledgeable advice on cuts and preparation techniques while delivering excellent customer service
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food production, food preparation, or retail store environments with a focus on meat handling or butchery
- Skilled in meat cutting techniques such as trimming, slicing, and portioning with basic knife skills
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures in a food handling setting
- Ability to operate food processing machines safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of perishable goods and quality control standards
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients, portion sizes, and inventory management
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate product knowledge effectively
- Kitchen or culinary experience is advantageous; experience with fish handling is a plus
