Job Summary

Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems, wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems through expert troubleshooting, testing, and repair.

Essential Job Functions

The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus (switches, relays, circuit breakers, control panels), drive systems (variable frequency, eddy current, DC), and programmable logic control (PLC) systems, including interpreting and modifying PLC control logic as necessary.
  • Responsible for the oversight of identifying and repairing industrial electrical problems or complications in installed systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus working from complex diagrams as needed.
  • Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring.
  • Use electrical/electronic testing equipment such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant equipment per CMMS
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
  • Able to respond to 24-hour emergency call-outs.
  • Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Possession of a Journeyman license to perform electrical work in a City/borough/Municipal or County.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment with related training.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and regulations, along with considerable expertise in electrical systems, including high-voltage switchgear, protective relaying, grounding procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, safety procedures, and electrical test equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess knowledge of electronics and instrumentation, utilizing engineering drawings, schematics, and service manuals to troubleshoot, install, and repair equipment, while also demonstrating proficiency in arithmetical and algebraic calculations
  • Skill in the use of electrical equipment and tools.
  • Considerable knowledge of the approved methods, practices, code requirements and safety standards, including equipment, tools and materials of the trade.
  • Basic personal computer skills: knowledge of Maintenance CMMS systems and Outlook.
  • Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently make decisions and self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able use both hands for simple/firm grasping.
  • The ability to safety ascends/descend stairs.
  • The ability to safely ascend/descend a ladder.
  • Must be able to move 50 pounds alone and over 80 pounds with assistance occasionally.
  • Wide range of working conditions including office and farms.
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and ammonia.
  • Outside conditions that include inclement weather, cold, dust, fumes, vapors, heat, and humidity.
  • Noise level may be loud at times.
