We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage large-scale civil construction projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring that the projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety standards and quality specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, with a proven track record of managing field operations, coordinating teams, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Supervision: Lead and manage daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects including roads, bridges, utilities, grading, and earthwork. Ensure the project progresses according to schedule and within scope.
  • Team Leadership: Direct and supervise on-site construction crews, subcontractors, and labor forces. Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to ensure a high standard of work and safety.
  • Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and ensure a safe working environment on-site. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality control procedures to ensure that work is completed to specification, meeting all contractual requirements and industry standards.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage project timelines and schedules. Coordinate material deliveries, equipment mobilization, and subcontractor work to prevent delays and avoid conflicts in the field.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Monitor and control project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment. Work closely with project managers to track progress and ensure cost-effective project execution.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Proactively address challenges on-site, including resolving conflicts, overcoming technical challenges, and making critical decisions to keep the project on track.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all site-related communications. Maintain open lines of communication with project managers, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Document Control: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of daily progress, safety meetings, incident reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Inspection & Compliance: Oversee inspections by regulatory bodies, ensuring all work is compliant with legal and environmental regulations.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
    • Experience with large infrastructure projects, such as highways, bridges, utilities, or large-scale grading operations.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of civil construction techniques, equipment, and materials.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead diverse crews.
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 30-Hour certification (required).
    • Valid driver’s license

 Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Salary : $114,000 - $140,000
