As Assistant Manager, you’ll support daily store operations, drive sales, lead by example, and help coach a passionate team of food lovers. We’re looking for someone who’s excited about food, loves connecting with customers, and is comfortable taking initiative in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Exceptional Customer Experiences
- Set the tone for outstanding service by modeling enthusiastic, informed, and friendly interactions with every customer. Hold the team accountable to service standards.
- Lead and Support the Team
- Support onboarding and training of new staff. Provide real-time coaching, share product knowledge, and help the team grow in confidence and capability.
- Sales & Store Performance
- Work closely with the Store Manager to meet and exceed sales goals. Help create daily goals, direct in-store selling activities, and promote featured products and seasonal offerings.
- Operational Excellence
- Ensure smooth day-to-day store operations including register management, inventory flow, restocking, merchandising, and visual presentation. Maintain accurate employee records and scheduling as needed.
- Problem Solving & Initiative
- Take ownership of challenges as they arise—whether it’s a customer issue or a logistics hiccup. Work with the Store Manager to find timely and thoughtful solutions.
- Inventory & Stock Management
- Support deliveries, stock rotation, and inventory events. Help control shrink and manage supply use efficiently.
- Maintain Store Standards
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with company policies and operational procedures. Promote a welcoming and inspiring store environment.
- Communication
- Foster clear, respectful, and effective communication with staff, customers, and leadership. Maintain open channels with HQ and other locations when necessary.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2 years of retail leadership experience preferred
- Strong passion for food, especially olive oils, vinegars, and gourmet ingredients
- Comfortable leading and motivating a small team
- Confident in recommending products, sharing recipe ideas, and engaging with customers about food
- Able to lift up to 45 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, and rotate across our three retail locations if needed to.
- Basic Microsoft Office and POS system proficiency
- Prior experience in specialty food, cooking, or hospitality is a plus
