Job Title: z/OS Connect Developer (Utilities Domain)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled z/OS Connect Developer with strong experience in mainframe integration and API enablement within the Utilities domain (Electric, Gas, or Water). The role involves exposing legacy mainframe applications as REST APIs and enabling seamless integration with modern digital platforms, including customer portals, smart grid systems, and enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement APIs using IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition (zCEE)
• Expose CICS, IMS, and Db2 services as RESTful APIs for enterprise consumption
• Enable bidirectional integration between mainframe systems and cloud/microservices architectures
• Develop and manage API requesters and providers using z/OS Connect
• Perform data transformation (COBOL ↔ JSON) and service mapping
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture and integration teams to align with API strategies
• Integrate utility systems such as:
• Customer Information Systems (CIS)
• Meter Data Management (MDM)
• Outage Management Systems (OMS)
• Ensure API security using OAuth, TLS, RACF/SAF
• Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint deliverables
  
  

Required Skills

• 7 years of IT experience with strong mainframe background
• Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition (zCEE)
• Experience with:
• CICS, IMS, JCL, COBOL
• Db2 and mainframe data structures
• Strong understanding of:
• REST APIs, JSON, OpenAPI (Swagger)
• API lifecycle management
• Experience in data transformation and service mapping
• Knowledge of mainframe security (RACF/SAF)
• Familiarity with middleware/integration tools (IBM Integration Bus, MQ, etc.)
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Utilities domain (Electric, Gas, Water)
• Exposure to platforms like:
• SAP IS-U, Oracle Utilities (CC&B, MDM)
• Knowledge of cloud integration (AWS/Azure)
• Experience with API gateways (Apigee, Kong, IBM API Connect)
• Understanding of event-driven architecture
  
  

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in smart grid, AMI, or energy trading systems
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
• z/OS Connect or IBM Z certifications
