Position Overview
The Video Surveillance Systems Field Technician will support the City of Philadelphia''s Ring Camera Initiative, which aims to install 2,000 residential video doorbell cameras and provide 1-year internet enablement for qualifying households.
The technician will conduct site assessments, perform installations (including wired installs for ADA residents), troubleshoot connectivity issues, and provide basic onboarding support to residents.

Position Overview
The Video Surveillance Systems Field Technician will support the City of Philadelphia''s Ring Camera Initiative, which aims to install 2,000 residential video doorbell cameras and provide 1-year internet enablement for qualifying households.
The technician will conduct site assessments, perform installations (including wired installs for ADA residents), troubleshoot connectivity issues, and provide basic onboarding support to residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-installation site readiness checks (mounting location, wiring/power availability, Wi-Fi signal strength).
- Install, configure, and thoroughly test video doorbell cameras at resident properties.
- Perform wired installations for ADA residents as scheduled.
- Troubleshoot device, network, and app connectivity issues; escalate complex issues to vendor support when necessary.
- Complete installation checklists, collect resident sign-offs, and document all work according to City procedures.
- Track and maintain device inventory including serial numbers, spares management, and returns for defective units.
- Support event-day deployments, block parties, and final operations as requested.
- Minimum 2 years experience installing and servicing low-voltage systems (CCTV, alarms, access control, networking, etc.).
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and apply safe installation practices using standard tools.
- Basic Wi-Fi/network troubleshooting skills.
- Strong customer service, communication, and resident-facing interaction skills.
- Valid driver''s license and ability to work outdoors in field environments.
- Experience with video surveillance systems and related configuration tools.
- Knowledge of switches, VLANs, PoE, and structured cabling.
