Vice President of Development

Introduction: The Vice President of Development is a senior technology leader responsible for setting the vision, driving execution, and continuously enhancing the organization’s software development ecosystem. This role oversees all internal and external application development, automation initiatives, and emerging AI capabilities. The VP ensures the delivery of secure, scalable, high-quality applications that support business objectives, elevate member experience, and accelerate digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a comprehensive software development strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Establish technology roadmaps, release plans, and long-term architectural direction.
  • Embed an automation-first mindset, leveraging UiPath RPA and Agentic AI to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ensure all development functions operate within a mature Agile framework focused on iterative delivery, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Champion Agile leadership principles, promoting psychological safety, empowerment, and experimentation.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from concept through deployment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions within budget and performance expectations.
  • Advocate for strong Agile product management practices, including backlog prioritization, incremental delivery, and rapid feedback loops.
  • Identify and implement automation and AI-driven workflows to enhance member and employee experiences.
  • Partner with business leaders, product owners, and stakeholders to align on priorities and requirements.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies and foster cross-functional collaboration to drive shared ownership and rapid iteration.
  • Identify and scale automation opportunities across the organization using RPA and AI solutions.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical direction across development and support teams.
  • Ensure adherence to modern engineering standards, secure coding practices, and scalable design principles.
  • Drive adoption of UiPath RPA, Agentic AI frameworks, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure alignment with technical strategy, quality standards, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, internal policies, and training requirements.

  • Demonstrate ethical leadership, accountability, and a commitment to doing what is right for members and employees.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of leadership experience in software development and engineering.
  • Proven Agile leadership experience, including coaching teams, scaling Agile practices, and leading transformations.
  • 3 years of experience with UiPath RPA, including design, deployment, and governance.
  • 3 years of experience implementing or overseeing Agentic AI systems and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex application portfolios and modern development environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex discussions.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences while coaching teams on Agile principles.
  • Strategic mindset with deep knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience evaluating automation and AI use cases with a focus on compliance, security, and operational impact.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with third-party vendors and partners.
